Tongue Tie Assessment
Have you been told your baby might have a tongue tie, a lip tie or even buccal ties? Oral tie diagnosis seems to be on the rise, as well as conflicting advice about how to manage them.
Our GPs are skilled in assessing oral anatomy of infants. We are concerned that oral ties are often blamed for causing feeding issues, when often if we can improve fit and hold then the feeding issues frequently resolve, without needing to undergo a painful procedure.
A tight anterior tongue tie may interfere with breastfeeding and Dr Andrew is happy to snip these if it is felt to be contributing to feeding issues, after an initial appointment with one of our GPs. If we are concerned that the tie is more complicated, we can refer on to surgeons who are skilled in this area.
If you would like a second opinion about your baby’s mouth before undergoing an expensive and potentially painful procedure, please make an appointment.
