Motherhood & Me Group
Our “Motherhood & Me” Group is led by Dr Alice Roberts-Thomson
Becoming a mother changes everything: your body, your relationships, your priorities and often, your sense of self. If you have found yourself thinking “Who am I now?”, “Why does this feel so hard?” or “This is not what I thought this would be like” You are most certainly not alone.
This new group guided by Dr Alice Roberts-Thomson, is a supportive, non-judgemental space created just for you. A safe space to discuss the transition of motherhood (‘matrescence’) and help you discover and lean into your values, which often may have changed.
We hope to give you an opportunity for validation, connection and a community of women who “get it”, along with gentle guidance so that you can find yourself again after your entire life has been turned on its head!
This group is for you if you’re:
- Feeling lost or disconnected from who you were before coming a mum
- Struggling with identity changes and the pressure to “have it all together”
- Trying to balance work, motherhood, home life and your own needs
- Noticing changes or challenges in your relationship with your partner since becoming parents
- Feeling guilty for wanting time to yourself, or unsure how to even take it.
This group, however, will not be a replacement for:
- Professional mental health support
- Relationship counselling
- Medical advice or treatments about medical conditions for you or your child.
For these we recommended seeing your usual GP
“Motherhood & Me” will explore what motherhood really brings up: the good bits and the tricky bits, in a space where honesty and vulnerability will be welcomed and nothing is ” too much” or ” not enough”.
Groups will be run on evenings or weekends with 6-10 Mums at our Rose Park location.
More details of how this group is structured and fees are yet to come.
