Bringing Baby Home Class

These private group classes are run as small-group sessions. Jayne (our NDC Parent Support Worker) presents the information with one of our NDC Accredited GPs. These are run one Saturday a month in a 3.5 hour class. This class is best done anytime during your pregnancy (although we also accept families with newborns!). We have a maximum of 12 people in a class and these sessions are very worthwhile for ALL parents, not just first-time parents.

All of the education is framed in the evidence-based Neuroprotective Developmental Care approach to infant care. This was developed by Dr Pamela Douglas (GP, IBCLC and researcher). All of our medical staff are accredited in this training.

Parents often receive conflicting advice when bringing their newborn home. This class will empower you to raise your baby in a cued-care approach and have confidence in your parenting skills.

Topics include…
  • Parenting values clarification
  • Infant sleep
  • Infant settling – ” The Two Tools”
  • Feeding (both breast and bottle feeding)
  • Parental mental health and wellbeing (managing difficult thoughts and feelings in the perinatal space)

Inclusions

  • Refreshments including tea, coffee, water and morning tea.
  • Handouts
Not just of the class slides, but so much more information to help with managing a new born.
