Dr Sophie Walenczykiewicz

MBBS FRACGP IBCLC

Sophie is a General Practitioner who is based in Adelaide. She has spent most of her life in SA, but moved to WA to study medicine, graduating in 2010. Sophie returned to Adelaide and became a fellow of the RACGP in 2015. She has a FPAA certificate in Sexual and Reproductive health and is an accredited Obstetric Shared Care provider. Sophie has worked in a variety of roles as a General Practitioner, but her passion remains in working with women and children, with a specific focus on breastfeeding medicine and the care of mothers and babies in the first year of life.

Sophie is a mother of two children, both of whom she has breastfed. It was this first-hand experience, and the large volume of contradictory advice provided to her after the birth of her first child, which inspired her to undertake further study in breastfeeding medicine. Sophie subsequently became a certified Neuroprotective Developmental Care Practitioner, having undergone training though the Possums clinic. In 2023 she became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

Sophie thoroughly enjoys supporting families as they welcome a new baby and feels privileged to be part of this special time. She strives to provide holistic, evidence-based care to optimise parental and infant wellbeing.
